BBC Food and Farming Awards
BBC Food and Farming Awards
The Event
The BBC Food & Farming Awards were launched in 2000, to mark the 20th anniversary of Radio 4’s The Food Programme. The mission statement then - which remains true to this day - was “to honour those who have done most to promote the cause of good food”.
The 2022 Award ceremony took place in the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff. Hosted by presenters including BBC Radio Wales’ Wynne Evans, who was joined by judges including Sheila Dillon (Presenter of The Food Programme), Asma Khan, (Restauranteur), Adam Henson (Countryfile presenter and farmer), Matt Allwright (The One Show/Watchdog presenter), and nominees from several categories.
Our Role...
As the chosen production company for the BBC, we began by creating a set to showcase the food and farming industry in the UK. This had to work for both an in-room audience as well as a television broadcast to viewers at home.
We also provided an in-room PA and microphone package, and worked with other broadcasters to ensure their needs were met.
Our overall objective was to record the celebratory nature of the nominees, whilst remaining in-line with brand guidelines. For this we allocated cameras and sound equipment, as well as collaborated to find the best angles to highlight their nominees and sponsors during the awards.
Footage was sent out live to the One Show, and recorded and made available for Morning Live, Countryfile and BBC Social Media use immediately after the live event.
