Date of Event
27 January 2025
Event Description
Each year on January 27th, the Welsh Government commemorates all those who lost their lives during the Holocaust, through a memorial day event. This year’s 2023 event will consist of an entirely Video Produced Ministerial Address, followed by a number of readings, poems and performances by volunteer choirs, to finish with a prayer and silence.
Production 78 Role
Production 78 have produced this ceremony for the Welsh Government since Holocaust Memorial Day began in 2001.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, this in-person memorial was replaced with a fully produced pre-recorded ceremony filmed on location across Cardiff.
Most recently the event has returned to a full in-person event held at Cardiff's Temple of Peace.
Production 78 have offered a professional service to Welsh Government, meeting our specification at all times from concept to delivery.
The team are experienced in offering production services for high profile events such as the Wales National Service of Remembrance and Holocaust Memorial Day Commemorations and have supported the Welsh Government on a wide variety of events over the years always to a high standard.

Holocaust Memorial Day Event Data
This annual event has also benefitted in recent years to having branded items that are resuable, therefore almost completely removing event specific Scope 1 emissions altogether.
Highlights we experienced when gathering this data included:
Attendees – Again a small audience that keep the overall emissions small by comparison to other events in the study. This event location and audience demographic, should be a key area that the client could target to reduce emissions by incentivising public transport.
Venue – Held in the Temple of Peace, again a venue that could benefit from some retrofit insulation and greener specifications. However, this is also a listed building owned by Cardiff University, so is unlikely to see this in the immediate future.
