Based on the research we have conducted, here are the tools that have been identified to decarbonise our events:
Choose a Green Venue:
Pick a location with energy-efficient features, green certifications, and close to public transportation.
Sustainable Transportation:
Encourage carpooling, cycling, and public transport for both organisers, participants, and attendees.
Renewable Energy:
Use solar, wind, or other renewable energy sources to power the event.
Digital Over Print:
Minimise printed materials by switching to digital agendas, maps, and communications.
Eco-Friendly Catering:
Source local, seasonal, and plant-based food to reduce food miles and resource use.
Zero Waste Policy:
Use reusable or compostable serving ware, set up recycling and composting stations, and remove single-use plastics.
Energy Efficiency:
Utilise LED lighting and energy-efficient appliances during the event.
Carbon Offsetting:
Invest in certified carbon offset projects to balance unavoidable emissions.
Remote Participation:
Offer virtual attendance options to reduce travel-related emissions.
Educate and Engage:
Inform participants about sustainability practices, and encourage behaviour that minimises their carbon footprint (such as Car Pooling, using public transport or Event Organised Coach Travel).
